The centre Mersenne’s MarginaliAS project, in partnership with the Académie des Sciences, has won the FNSO 2 call for projects.
The collaboration between the Académie des Sciences and the centre Mersenne is being enriched by a new project, MarginaliAS, which will be launched thanks to the Fonds National pour la Science Ouverte.
Background
The origins of this project lie in the reflections of members of the Académie des Sciences on the relevance and usefulness for everyone of marginalia (at the time of manuscripts), these handwritten notes, drawings or signs traced in the margins of a text by the reader (or copyist) wishing to add further information, a thought, an opinion or a lesson to the document.
Goals
The aim here is to highlight additional content from experts (reviewers, editors, readers) in relation with a scientific article.
The project therefore consists of developing the following functionalities:
Enrichment of records: the following elements are added to the record of an article (with the agreement of the authors), where they exist:
- reviewers’ reports (if they agree),
- recommendation,
- presentations by volunteer editors or chief editors
All this additional content would be published under a CC BY 4.0 licence.
Online comments: creation of a collective space for researchers to exchange views on published articles, via comments.
Implementation
