How to join the centre Mersenne ?

Selection criteria & publication standards

The Centre Mersenne supports publications meeting the two following criterias:

  • peer-reviewed,
  • open access scientific publications.

Types of publications

  • Journals, books or proceedings,
  • Of any scientific discipline
  • Of national of international base
  • Existing: open access journal seeking a solid technical structure or subscription-based journal wishing to move to open access,
  • Newly-created journal

Selection Criteria

Title ownership

  • the journal's title is owned by a not-for-profit entity serving the relevant scientific community.

Independence

  • the journal has a transparent ownership structure and articles are selected on behalf of a competent, scientifically independent editorial board (see recommendations: COPE, EMS ethics Code of practice)

Best practices

Open access dissemination (diamond open access)

  • the journal preferably publishes under Diamond Open Access model (preferred over Gold Open Access), no money is required to publish (no APC) nor to read.

Peer reviewing

  • the journal must be peer-reviewed.

Composition of the editorial board

  • Selection of articles by a competent and scientifically independent editorial board

Transparency

  • Transparency: the publisher must declare the origin of the financial support it receives for the publication.

Identity of the Project

  • Non-profit project and institutional support

Copyright

  • authors assign (not necessarily exclusively) the rights necessary for open access publication, and an open licence is explicitly used. For example, articles can be released under a Creative Commons licence CC-BY, CC-BY-ND... Read more about Creative Commons.

Fees and Accession

The fees depend on the services you request and are broken down as follows:

Basic Entrance fees to access the Mersenne Center, payable once.

Installation without the support to editorial process service

  • 3 175 €


Installation with the support to editorial process service

  • 1 312 €


Additional installation for the support to editorial process service

  • 1 406 €

Maintenance costs renewed every year.

Basic maintenance: publication

  • 1 066 €


Full maintenance : publication and support to editorial process

  • 1 363 €


Additional maintenance for the support to editorial process service

  • 3 405 €

  • 7,5€/page

Typesetting – Simple Layout with HTML production

  • 11,62€/page

Invoicing for services may be subject to a partial or total discount, depending on the means available and the level of service requested by the Journal.

Upon acceptation, each Publication becomes a Member.

Accession process

The editorial team of the journal meeting the Centre Mersenne publication standard fills in the New Journal Membership Request Form or Existing Journal Membership Request Form – (you can find the fees below. Please contact us for any question) – and signs the General Terms of Use, then an electronic version to the Centre Mersenne along with the General Terms of Use.

Assessment by Mathdoc of the demand according to the above criteria and publication standards.

The Mersenne scientific Committee assesses the relevance of the project. It may consult experts if neccessary.

Possibly after several rounds, the Steering Committee makes the final decision.

When the proposal is accepted, the Centre Mersenne sends an acceptance letter to the publisher of the journal as well as a contract and a quote to be signed and returned. The Director of the Publication returns the signed General Conditions of Use and the quote to the centre Mersenne.

Once the signed contract is received by Centre Mersenne, partnership can begin.
