The <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.doi.org\/registration_agencies.html\" target=\"_blank\">list of agencies<\/a> is available on the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.doi.org\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">International DOI Foundation<\/a> website. A non-profit organisation, Crossref aims to facilitate the identification of digital objects. Some are accessible to all, others are by subscription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column mersenne-box-gris is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/documentation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/documentation\/<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/services\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Services available to all<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/services\/metadata-retrieval\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u><strong>Metadata collection<\/strong><\/u><\/a> : When Crossref members register their content, they send metadata, including the DOI. This metadata, stored in Crossref in a standardised format, is freely accessible and reusable through tools and APIs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/services\/metadata-retrieval\/metadata-plus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u><strong>Metadata Plus<\/strong><\/u><\/a>: a fee-based service providing enhanced access to Crossref-supported APIs (OAI-PMH and REST-API) and metadata in XML and Json formats.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/services\/cited-by\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u><strong>Link to document<\/strong><\/u><\/a>: with this service, Crossref allows researchers to access the full text from a reference. This link, in the form of a DOI, is permanent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/services\/funder-registry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u><strong>Register of funders<\/strong><\/u><\/a>: this register contributes to the transparency of research funding and results. It consists of a register of names of funding bodies. It allows these to be added to the metadata of documents registered with Crossref. Clicking on the name of a funder displays all the articles resulting from the funded research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/services\/event-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u><strong>Event Data<\/strong><\/u><\/a>: this tool detects data added to blogs, social networks, etc. By providing access to the raw data, it allows users to understand the context in which their research is disseminated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Services for members only<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/services\/content-registration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Content registration<\/strong><\/a>: Crossref allows members to register DOIs and update their metadata manually or automatically.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mersenne-front.u-ga.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/Infographic-Content-registration-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Infographic-Content-registration-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Crossref, CC-BY 4.0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/services\/cited-by\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Cited-by<\/strong><\/a>: this tool shows the reception of the document by the scientific community. It shows the number of citations and links to the citing content. This is the tool that has been implemented in the Mersenne Centre journal sites to visualise the number of citations.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mersenne-front.u-ga.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/Infographic-Cited-by-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Infographic-Cited-by-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Crossref, CC-BY 4.0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/services\/similarity-check\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u><strong>Similarity Check<\/strong><\/u><\/a>: plagiarism detection tool. Crossref&#8217;s tool searches for similarities in a database of several million scientific articles and billions of web pages. It allows editorial teams to ensure the quality of its publications.<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/services\/crossmark\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u><strong>Crossmark<\/strong><\/u><\/a>: this service provides access to the status of the document: has it been corrected, updated or retracted?<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How do I get a DOI via Crossref?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Become a member<\/h3>\n\n<p>To obtain a DOI prefix, you must be a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/membership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u>member<\/u><\/a> of Crossref. Any organisation that produces professional or academic content can become a member.<\/p>\n\n<p>Each Crossref member pays an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/fees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u>annual subscription fee<\/u><\/a>, the amount of which depends on their income or publishing expenses. Thereafter, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/fees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u>fee is applied to each deposit<\/u><\/a>. These fees vary according to the type of document submitted: book, scientific article, conference proceedings, etc. For example, depositing a scientific article costs $1 ($0.15 for a pre-current year archive plus 2 years).<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In practice<\/h3>\n\n<p>There are three methods of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossref.org\/documentation\/member-setup\/choose-content-registration-method\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u>submitting metadata<\/u><\/a> to Crossref: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>use the web submission form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>send an XML file using the Crossref tool<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>send an XML file using HTTPS POST<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>For information, Crossref makes its data schema available. <\/p>\n\n<p>Crossref offers a tool to determine the most appropriate solution:<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mersenne-front.u-ga.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/Content-registration-decision-tree.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Content-registration-decision-tree.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Crossref, CC-BY 4.0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Crossref is a DOI registration agency (Link to DOI article).
