French philosopher and a religious person.<\/p>\n<p>He created in 1635 the <em>Academia Parisiensis<\/em>, ancestor of the French Acad\u00e9mie des Sciences (Academy of Sciences), gathering mathematicians, astronomers, philosophers, doctors&#8230;<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element secondarily, for his work in musicology.<\/p>\n<p>Like the Marin Mersenne Academy, the centre Mersenne aims to be a multidisciplinary, independent and sustainable scientific centre, participating in the development of science and encouraging the dissemination of knowledge. The centre Mersenne also provides expertise and advice on scientific publishing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A nickname: &#8220;the secretary of scientific Europe<\/strong><strong>&#8220;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Marin Mersenne maintained rich correspondence with illustrious contemporary scientists such as Galileo, Descartes, Constantine, Hobbes, Pascal, etc., informing them of the latest scientific discoveries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A quote (Baillet, 1691)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mersenne \u00ab s\u2019etoit rendu comme le centre de tous les gens de lettres par le commerce continuel qu\u2019il entretenoit avec tous, et tous avec luy. C\u2019etoit a luy qu\u2019ils envoyoient leurs doutes et leurs difficultez pour etre proposees par son moyen a ceux dont on attendoit les solutions ; et lorsqu\u2019il les avoit re \u0327cues, il les leur renvoyoit faisant a peu pres dans le corps de toute la republique des Lettres la fonction que fait le coeur dans le corps humain a l\u2019egard du sang.
